Denmark - Accomodation

Overview

Finding a cheap place to live often take time thus it is strongly advisable to contact the relevant education institution shortly after admission for information on accommodation possibilities. Often the administrative offices will be able to guide you on this matter, and in some cases you are guaranteed a place to live.
In general, there are various accommodation opportunities:

  • Room in a residence hall (a kollegium in Danish), price 240-400 euro/month. The Danish residence halls are an important aspect of social life among international and Danish students. In contrast to what is often the case in Australia in Denmark, residence halls are not dominated by students in their first year. People of different age groups live here – usually between the ages of 19 to 30.
  • Room in a private family's home, price 200-500 euro/month.
  • Apartment for rent - either on an individual basis or together with other students, prices vary considerably.

Another alternative may be to swap flats or rooms with students from Denmark that are going to study in the city you are living in. To explore this possibility you could visit the website for international students’ home exchanges  www.casaswap.com.
