Study in The Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is situated in the heart of Central Europe. The country comprises three main regions: Moravia, Bohemia and part of Silesia. It is bordered by Poland, Austria, Germany and Slovakia and has a population of almost 10.5 million people. The capital city of the Czech Republic is Prague, an extremely beautiful old Central European city with a population of almost 1.5 million people; counting its outer urban areas. Other major cities are Brno (pop approximately 380,000) and Ostrava (pop approximately 320,000).
There are opportunities to study in the Czech Republic in Czech or in English. Prospective students should be aware that studies in Czech are free and that there are plenty of affordable, intensive Czech courses available both in Prague and throughout the Czech Republic. Studies in English are subject to fees, which vary from institution to institution.
There are currently sixty-two higher educational institutions in the Czech Republic’s higher educational system. Similarly to Australian universities they offer Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees. While many students study in the capital city, Prague, a sizeable minority study in Brno. There is also the opportunity to attend colleges in regional towns such as Ceske Budejovice, Cheb, Ostrava, Pardubice, Plzen and more. The Czech Republic has a reputation for high quality in its higher education, particularly in the fields of sciences, engineering and medicine.
